The switch from synthetic to green products is very imminent because of our increasingly environmental conscious and chemical averse consumers. More consumers are inclined to buy organic skin care as these are perceived to be more skin-friendly as well as environmental-friendly products. The shift may have started with the companies though as more and more cosmetics and beauty companies are launching organic lines of their products. Organic is most of the time associated with less chemicals, more natural products. This is partly true. But organic is not synonymous with natural.

1. Natural skin care products are found in your backyard.



Natural skin care products are derived from botanically sourced ingredients such as herbs, flowers, roots, leaves as well as natural preservatives, emulsifiers. Natural products can even be homemade because of its abundance in nature and relatively easy preparation. Some examples of natural ingredients include jojoba, safflower oil, rose hip seed oil, shea butter, beeswax, witch hazel, aloe vera, tea tree oil, and chamomile.




2. Organic skin care products are derived from plants grown organically.



"Organic" means that plants are grown organically. This means that they stay away from synthetic fertilizers and pesticides and use plant and animal compost as fertilizers instead. The growing and preparation of organic plants to produce organic skin care and cosmetics products is designed to makes sure that pesticides and synthetic fertilizers do not make their way into our precious skin.



3. Natural skin care products may contain more chemicals than organic products.



Natural products are the naturally occurring plants in the environment which may or may not be exposed to chemical fertilizers and pesticides. On the other hand, organic products are groomed to stay away from synthetic chemicals and pesticides to avoid their contact with our skin. It is best to read the label carefully and resolve if the product is natural or organic or for more information, ask the seller.



4. Natural and organic products are relatively cheap.




Natural and organic products are cheaper than their synthetic counterparts. There are high-end organic products that are expensive but either way; these product lines offer more value for your money. They can even be prepared and made at home.



5. Natural and organic products are reasonably allergy-free.



These products can be used in all skin types all year round. Since the ingredients are natural and organic, they are milder to the skin.
